Abstract

This research paper reviews energy audit methodologies customize to Small & Medium Enterprises with a focus on effective use of energy and reducing operational costs under resource constraints. It provides analysis of traditional and initial approaches across multiple industries, identifying the tools and practices that optimize energy use. Moreover, the paper addresses common challenges these enterprises face, including financial limitations, lack of technical expertise, and restricted access to support services. The review highlights the need for flexible, affordable audit frameworks and supportive policies to enhance energy efficiency in SMEs. These are important for promoting sustainability, adaptability, and lowering the carbon footprint within this sector. Through a case study, the authors are addressing some feasible energy-saving strategies and some frequent barriers for their implementation. Consequently suitable recommendations have been made to increase the energy efficiency and reduce the industry’s utility tariff bill.
