This study investigates the stress distribution in porous, functionally graded sandwich plates by combining analytical methods with three-dimensional finite element analysis. A novel higher-order displacement theory incorporating shear and normal effects is utilized. In the absence of a shear correction factor, the transverse shear stresses vanish at the upper and lower surfaces of the plate. The results highlight the influence of thickness on stress distribution and through-thickness displacement, with comparisons between models that include and exclude thickness effects. Finite element simulations are employed to verify the analytical results. The impact of key parameters, such as porosity and plate thickness, is also examined.
