Abstract

With the significant advancements in the electric vehicle (EV) sector, improving electric conversion and charging systems has become necessary to improve efficiency and accessibility for all users. This paper introduces a novel nine-switch inverter with a quasi-impedance Source topology designed to revolutionize EV power train systems. The proposed inverter design enables the simultaneous control of two traction motors while reducing the number of required power switches from 12 to 9, saving three switches compared to the conventional dual-inverter setup, improving system redundancy and dependability for improved EV performance. Utilizing its features, the inverter doubles as an onboard charger, eliminating the need for a separate charging unit. This streamlined approach reduces system complexity and cost while improving charging convenience.
