Abstract

This paper proposes E2A2S-WSN, an Energy-Efficient Adaptive Sleep Scheduling for Load-Balanced energy harvesting wireless sensor networks based on asynchronous duty cycling and relay node selection. The scheme dynamically adapts node duty cycles using a novel level-based strategy that considers residual and harvested energy, ensuring balanced energy consumption across the network. E2A2S-WSN also employs low-power listening with short preambles and an optimized relay selection mechanism to achieve load balancing. E2A2S-WSN scheme was compared with RDEHWSN under various multi-hop traffic and energy harvesting scenarios. Simulation results show that E2A2S-WSN significantly improves network performance by reducing energy consumption and latency, increasing packet delivery ratio and throughput.
