Resumen

The objective of this work is to study the effect of sand type on the physical and mechanical behavior and durability of self-compacting repair mortar (SCM). Six types of sand were used in this study, crushed limestone sand (CS), silica roller gravel sand (GRCS), dune sand (DS), mixed sand (70% DS + 30% CS) and normalized sand (NS). The three-point compression and tensile tests were carried out for the periods: 2 days, 7 days, 28 days with absorption and 90 days. The results showed that the rheological properties of the fresh mortar which were carried out using the flow and diffusion tests are largely in line with the recommendations of EFNARC, while in the hardened state, the samples consisting of (CS) showed high compressive strength in 28 days, reaching an increase of 21.79% over the control sample. The three-point tensile strength showed superior results over the control by 26.61%. As for the rest of the samples, they showed relatively acceptable results, although they were lower than the control results. The durability test also confirmed the results obtained in the three-point compression and tensile tests, where the higher the three-point compression and tensile results, the lower the porosity.
