Application of the Gray Wolf (GWO) algorithm in the tuning of a PID controller in a feedback control system
Abstract
In this paper, a PID controller will have its parameters optimized by the Gray Wolf (GWO) algorithm. This will determine the values of K and a of the controller in order to guarantee, in a response to the unitary step, an overshooting of 10%. The performance of the algorithm will be evaluated by the error between the desired value of the overshooting and the one found after the iterations. A comparative study will be made between the GWO optimization and the classic trial and error method (T&E) adopted in the literature.
